Sacred Things To Do In Jerusalem



Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is a holy place of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.The old Jerusalem was divided in four quarters by the huge walls, that were built in 1538. Each quarter was divided as the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters. This old city of Jerusalem was declared as World's Heritage in 1981. Modern Jerusalem is a city that is far grown than the older city.



Throughout the year, many people visit here on pilgrimage and visit one of the oldest cities in the world. The city gives wide options of things to do in Jerusalem during your visit.

1. Pilgrimage of Muslims

Jerusalem is the third sacred place for Islamic people after Mecca and Medina. Jerusalem was considered as first direction of prayer but later it was redirected to Mecca.It is the place from where the Prophet Muhammad was taken to the heavens and now that place is worldwide famous as 'Isra and Miraj'.

2. Pilgrimage of Christians

Jerusalem is the home of three religions that are: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. For Christians, it is a place where Jesus was brought as the child and gifted at the temple.It is the place where Jesus started preaching and The Cenacle on Mount Zion, is said to be the place where Jesus had his last supper and Pentecost.

3. Pilgrimage of Jews

Every year many jews pilgrims travel to Jerusalem to offer their pray to the Wailing Wall and they place notes in the cracks of the wall. They also go Wailing Wall Tunnel, the place where they come closest to the Holy of Holies of the temple stood.



All these things to do in Jerusalem makes it a holy city and city of pilgrimage for three ancient Arabic religions.
